2  Cookies, local storage, and consent

The Site uses browser storage, including local storage, for features such as theme preferences and, on supported pages, saved typing-test scores.

The Site also uses cookies, consent signals, local storage, or similar technologies through third-party services such as Google AdSense and Google Analytics. Depending on your location and choices, these technologies may be used to:

  • show personalised or non-personalised ads;
  • limit how often you see the same ad;
  • measure ad performance; and
  • measure site usage in aggregate through analytics tools; and
  • detect and prevent fraud.

Where legally required, consent choices may be requested before certain advertising or analytics technologies are used. Learn how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

3  Advertising and third-party services

We use third-party services to operate, secure, measure, and fund the Site. These include:

  • Google AdSense: used to display advertising and related fraud-prevention and measurement services.
  • Google Analytics: used to understand aggregate site usage, page performance, and traffic patterns.
  • Cloudflare: used for content delivery, caching, performance, security, and abuse protection.
  • Amazon affiliate links: some outbound product links are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
  • Other third-party sites: if you follow a link away from KeyboardTester.uk, the destination site’s own terms and privacy policy will apply.

We do not control third-party content, availability, pricing, or privacy policies once you leave our site.

4  Infrastructure and security

The core keyboard testing experience is designed to run client-side, so normal key presses used in the tester are not uploaded by the core testing logic itself.

Like most websites, the Site is delivered through hosting, CDN, and security infrastructure. This includes services such as Cloudflare for caching, request filtering, performance, and security.

The Site uses HTTPS to help protect data in transit, but no internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

5  How long data is kept

Data stored locally in your browser, such as theme preferences or saved scores, remains there until you clear it or your browser removes it.

Any data processed by third-party providers, such as Google AdSense, Google Analytics, Cloudflare, or Amazon, is subject to their own retention periods, settings, and privacy policies.

6  Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal data.

For controls related to Google advertising data, visit myadcenter.google.com. You can also clear your browser cookies and local storage to remove locally stored preferences or saved results, and review the privacy tools offered by your browser and third-party providers.
